The Garage 7-07 (28) V Humans or Badgers 3-03 (12)
The Garage (D.Curley)
An overcast setting greeted both teams for this game this evening in what was a must win game for The Garage,if they were to keep their hopes of making the semi-finals. The game kicked off late, but it didnt matter, as Trevor has promised me cupcakes next week so I wont go complaining about him. The Garage were missing Jackie Hilux this week due to work commitments, so they lined out with Gar Lynch in goals, Darragh, Vanessa and Sophie at the back, John Hilux and Paddy in midfield, and Digger and Linda up front. The game started well for the Garage converting some goal chances to take an early lead. Great in midfield set up Linda for several chances of which she converted one of the best goals of game with the shot into the top corner from the outside of her boot. The Garage went into half time with a big lead, near 15 points, having only conceded one point in the first half. They came out firing in the second half and quickly extended their lead converting a few goals and points to put the game to rest. Human's or Badger's notched up 3 goals in quick succession to haul in the deficit. With five minutes to play, The Garage lost Linda to injury following a horrible clash with the oncoming goalkeeper. In fairness, much of the blame should be leveled at John Hilux for his through pass that can only be described as a suicide ball. The game finished with a scoreline of 7-7 to 3-3. Referee Scotty MacLean had a good game however he did allow some of the girls to blatantly throw the ball. When questioned, his answer was "Ah they're girls, give them a break". One feels there may have been an ulterior motive for his leniency with the girls. Only time will tell in that respect. A well deserved win for the Garage and with 2 games next week, including one against Flanagans Flyers, its all to play for in the race for the semi-finals. AN GARAISTE ABU
Humans or Badgers (Honeybadger)
Humans or Badgers went into this match on the back of a fine win against Malone FC last week. It was always going to be a tough match against an impressive looking Garage side. Also Humans or Badgers were going to be up against it from the start due to the absence of their charismatic talisman and top scorer Adam O’Sullivan.
Garage commanded affairs from the start with Digger Donohue and Johnny Hilux Murray in dazzling form as was Paddy. For Humans or Badgers, Declan Walsh looked sharp as always and chipped in with 2 points. Tim O’Connell had a great game at the back and goals from Rebecca O’Toole, Dave the Badger Downes and Fraiser Hunter were not enough to catch the Garage.
Dina Badger did all Middle Eastern Gaelic Football fans proud with another industrious performance.
Clonbony Abu 4-07 (19) V Luke's Skywalkers 0-01 (01)
Clonbony Abu (D.Rynne)
If the Christchurch earthquake was a 7.1 on the Richter scale, then Clonbony's defeat last week was at least a 9. However, its a much happier report this week as Trevor reinstated the reigning champions on their favorite pitch and they duly came out with another win.
Not many teams can handle the boggy ground and wet conditions, but the quicksand like pitch was no match for the men and women of Clonbony abu. As their Captain Davey Rynne commented "Sure didn't we run the 10 miles to school through fields much worse than this". With such training from a young age, it was no surprise that Clonbony Abu prevailed.
Back in the team this week was Penny Chapman, fresh from her visit to help the poor of Auckland, now that her charity work was over she set about dismantling the Skywalkers defense at every opportunity. Back from injury too was Adam Greenfield and he showed no ill effects of his two torn cruciates last week. its a testament to the man that he again marshaled the middle of the park.
After scoring the best goal of all time last week, it was hard to see how Grinder McNamara would improve on his last weeks performance but somehow he did by scoring 2 cracking goals.
The defense was again solid throughout and only conceded 1 point over the game which sees them again retain the title of the meanest defense in the league. With scrooge-esque performance from Grant, Siobhan and Georgie, it will be tough to see how the defense will be breached again this year!
Peter Peilua and Scott Maclean again got through heaps of work in midfield and in attack setting up score after score.
There was no doubt that the player of the day was of course Aislinn Ryan who even overshadowed the mighty Mcnamara by scoring 2 goals of her own. When she wasn't rattling the back of the net, she was terrorising the Skywalkers defenders and there was many the occasion where the ball never left the opposition 21 such was the brilliance of young Ryan.
Despite the heroic efforts of Luke's Skywalkers who put in a great and spirited effort, it was to be Clonbony's day, but they'll take heart from the fact that they've played some tough games and will be more than ready for next season.
Clonbony Abu have 2 make or break games next week against T-shirt time and CuChullainn Crew. word has it that the Jersey Shore T shirt time lads are flying in players from Senior panels from west of the shannon to help them against the mighty Clonbony Abu, will it help? only time will tell!

Frances Hankeys (Dizzle O'Connor)
Francis Hankey Crokes report.
Garrett Lynch was superb in goals, he made a few crucial saves towards the end of the match and great distribution from the kickouts. Olivia and Kim were solid in the back and are gaining confidence on the ball with every game. Daithí was great throughout and made a good few runs up the field. Peter and Albee were working together very well, linking well with the back and the forwards. Lisa was very busy all throughout the match, got into great positions and was very unlucky not to get a few scores. Susan and Orla won alot of the breaking ball in the forward line and linked well with the midfielders. Always growing in confidence.
