Bah Bahs - Social 9's Champions
Social 9s finals 03/12/14
An action packed night in Ian Galloway park on Wednesday 03/12/14. Down for decision was the prestigious social 9 championship. The semi finals consisted of the nail guns versus Foggy Dew and the Bah bahs versus the Stitch Ups. Two evenly match sides ended with victories for both the Bah bahs and the experienced Foggy Dew side.
The final itself was a very tight affair with both sides having a spell of dominance in each half. James "Jesus" Symth continued his impressive run in the social 9s by drawing first blood with a great reaction goal. Lead by Clooney Quin native Paul Clune, the bah bahs tried to turn the screw and extend their lead. Before half time tensions between both sides were high as referee Eoghan O Leary blew his whistle for half time.
The second half produced some quality football from both sides. Once the Bah bahs gained the momentum they were able to see the result home with a final score line win of 3-7 to 2-3. The bah bahs were a well oiled unit with Andy Mcbride playing as a sweeper keeper, roaming from one end of the field to the other. Eileen Foyle and Elaine Collins producing some great link up play and the most impressive girl on the night and if not the tournament, Chloe Peters who showed a killer instinct when through on goals.
The runners up,the foggy dew outfit were unlucky. The experienced outfit lead by the Rynne brothers, Declan who kicked some marvellous points and the agile shotsstopper Davey, the evergreen Robbie English and Knockaderry native Mossy Hartnett, the dew outfit didn't know when they were beaten and will surely regroup to give it another go next year. Special mention to Cara, back playing for the Dew outfit after an injury hit campaign.
As the club president presented the bah bahs captain duo of Paul and Eileen the trophy to bring the curtain down on an action packed 6 week tournament, thoughts are ahead for 2015 and the next social 9s. The all star team was announced after the finals with each team nominating their "best n fairest" players. Overall, the tournament was a huge success with the emphasis on new players learning our beautiful game and hopefully eager to come back in January to play more. Special mention to Nails, our tournaments committee person who ran a smooth operation throughout.

Ladies take the title and the hurlers
make it to a nail-biting final at the 2014 Feis
Wellington were represented by both a Hurling and Ladies football Selection. Throughout the weekend, both teams were among the stand out performers and were both very impressive in marching to their respective finals.
The ladies football team were utterly dominant throughout and powered their way to victory over Christchurch McKennas in the final. The ladies have continued their domination of the Kiwi Competitions in the second half of 2014 and promises to be a great year ahead. Final score: Wellington 2-5 Chch McKenna's 0-3
The hurlers made their way through the round robin and a tough semi final to meet McKennas in the final. The final proved to be a fantastic game on a scorching Canterbury day. It was tit for tat all through after an epic display of point scoring, Mckennas came through to win by 2-11 to 1-13 and bring the curtain down on a fabulous year of hurling throughout NZ.

Welly & Hutt Valley Hurling Celebrated 100 yrs
10th May 2014
McKenna’s of Christchurch joined us to celebrate the centenary of hurling in Wellington in May. We headed out to Awa Kairangi Park in the surprisingly easy to get to Upper Hutt. Fittingly Wellington took the inaugural Cook Strait Shield 2-13 to 2-05 while the exhibition camogie game was won by the Reds 1-01 to no score.
Huge thanks to Emmett Whelan for never giving up and organising a memorable clash of the ash, Eileen Foyle for getting a super game of camogie going and to all the girls who stayed in on their Friday night to cook and bake to feed an army!
We hope this is the start of a good relationship with both the Darts Club and Upper Hutt Soccer Club, who were wonderful hosts. Indeed we have used Awa Kairangi Park for a few ladies training sessions since.
